How Can You Help?
Lighthouse Animal Shelter is an all-volunteer organization. We are always looking for animal lovers to lend us a helping hand!
Because Lighthouse and our canine and feline residents rely 100% on volunteers, we ask that you are able to commit at least 3-4 hours per week.
Volunteers who don’t have a schedule that allows for shift work, can walk dogs, organize fundraisers, or do miscellaneous tasks around the shelter such as repairs, painting, yard work, or transporting animals to their vet appointments.
A typical volunteer shift working hands-on with our adoptable animals includes:
- Feeding
- Sweeping & mopping
- Socializing the dogs during playtime
- Washing dishes
- Cleaning kennels
- Doing laundry
- Medicating (we will train you!)
And of course there is time for cuddling and playing with the dogs and cats once the dirty work is done!
